Chauncey Shoultes was born in the eastern regions of Newark Valley (Tioga County), New York on September 1, 1851. He was the third child of Peter Adam Shoultes (1821-1856) and Sally Ann Zimmer (1826-1853). It appears that he spent his entire life in the East Newark region as a resident of his father's farm.
The tragedy of death continued to plague this family and makes for the
sad story that one can read when visiting the old cemetery. Chauncey Shoultes
died on February 16, 1854 of causes unknown, still in the second year of
life. He is buried in the family plot at the East Newark Cemetery, near the
village of Newark Valley (Tioga County), New York. |
