Dason G. Shoultes was born in 1820 at Knox (Albany County), New York. He was the first born child of Jacob Ira Shoultes (1798-1856) and Elizabeth Isabell Leip (1798-1872).

The only document supporting the life of Dason G. Shoultes was found in the Tioga County Historical Museum at Owego (Tioga County), New York. Support for this claim are that Jacob and Elizabeth Shoultes had ten children and a mention of nine sons and a daughter in a newspaper article.

According to family legend, Dason G. Shoultes died in infancy and was probably buried in the family plot at Beaverdam Cemetery, near the village of Berne (Albany County), New York. There is no gravemarker in the family plot or in any other local cemetery.
