Dora Quick was born at Glen Aubrey, New York on November 2, 1872, the eighth child of Abraham Quick (1821-17Nov1886) and Mary Moore (1843-Jan1904). It is believed the family moved to Newark Valley when Dora was a child. Very little is known about her childhood.

Dora Quick united in marriage with Melvin Ozeas Shoultes (19Sep1868-15Jun1927) in 1891. Melvin Shoultes was born at Newark Valley (Tioga County), New York on September 19, 1868, the son of Ira Adam Shoultes (12Oct1844-5Mar1922) and Nancy M. Schoolcraft (7Oct1841-10Jan1921). His sibling was Erman Francis (10Aug1872-3Mar1920) who married 1) Rhoda Euneth Henry (15Jul1876-15Jun1912) and 2) Wilma E. Cole (5 Jul 1898- ). Melvin and Dora Shoultes resided in the village of Newark Valley where Melvin was a long-time employee of the Bordon Creamery.

Melvin Shoultes suffered a stroke and died on June 15, 1927. It is believed that Dora Shoultes resided in their home until reaching advanced age. It is also believed that she played a major role in the raising of her granddaughter Vivian Shoultes (1922- ), the daughter of William Erman Shoultes (1894- ) and Rose E. Cook.

In her later years, Dora Shoultes became a resident of the Riverside Nursing Home in Owego (Tioga County), New York. It is interesting to note that no family members living in Owego can recall her residence.

Dora Quick Shoultes cause of death was listed as accidental cardiovascular failure. Although the gravestone has been removed, it is believed that she was buried with her husband in the Hope Cemetery, located in the village of Newark Valley (Tioga County), New York.
