Elnora E. Westcott (Nora according to family members) was born on February 18, 1871 at Union Center (Broome County), New York. She was the youngest of 11 children, her parents being Nicholas Westcott (8May1828-15Oct1895) and Margaret Cornick (30May1827-1922). Her siblings were: Major (27Mar1849-27Mar1851); Mary Jane (6May1850-22Dec1883) who married Burdell Barney; Hannah (30Mar1852-????) who married Mark Haggerty; Delphine (4Apr1854-????) who married Frank Hardendorf; Ida (16Apr1857-????) who married Sam Merceredi; Frederick L. (25Aug1859-1939) who married Ida Mae Carman; Frank (27Jun1860-1948) who married Sarah Howe; Anna (1Jan1863-????) who married Ed Orcutt; William H. (20Jun1865-1892) who married Lettie Pierce; and Martha (17Apr1867-10Jun1953) who married Fred Trask. The Westcott family came from Massachusetts and were one of the early settlers to this region. Her grandparents were Major Westcott (1792-17Jan1851) and Angelica Van Patten (1796-22Dec1871).

Nora Westcott grew up near the village of Union Center, New York. The extent of her education and details concerning her childhood are not known at the time of this writing.

Elnora E. Westcott united in marriage with the former Owen Brighton Shoultes (1865-1925) on January 1, 1890 at Union Center (Broome County), New York. Owen Brighton Shoultes was born at Newark Valley (Tioga County), New York on April 10, 1865. He was the son of Elijah Shoultes (1835-1912) and Mary A. Kenyon (1840-1905) and the grandson of Jacob Ira Shoultes (1798-1856) and Elizabeth Isabell Leip (1798-1872) who settled Newark Valley in 1825. His siblings were: Orrin (1870-1870); and George Henry 28Sep1875-15Feb1957) who married Sarah A. Brougham. Owen and Nora Shoultes established a small farm near the village of Union Center and gave birth to one daughter. They appear to have lived their entire married life in this area.

Owen Brighton Shoultes died on January 1, 1925 and was buried at Riverhurst Cemetery at Endicott (Broome County), New York. Nora Westcott Shoultes maintained residence in Union Center until her death from a stroke on August 23, 1944. She is buried in the plot with her husband.
