Burton Robert Evans, 76, of Waverly, N.Y., died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Tioga Nursing Facility in Waverly.

He was born in Sayre on Feb. 25, 1929, the son of the late Fay Evans and Luella Crandall.

Burton served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

He retired after 30 years with the Chevrolet plant in Tonawanda.

He was predeceased by a nephew, Reynor Thompson.

Burton is survived by a sister, Virginia Mosier of Sayre; a brother, Raymond Evans; nieces, Luella Holland and Ida Haney of Spencer; nephew, Myron Thompson of Van Etten; great-nieces and great-nephews, Matt Haney of Spencer, Paul Haney of Warwick, N.Y., Desiree Haney of Mansfield, Carrie and Theresa Holland and Melissa Thompson, all of Kansas City, Kan., Reynor Thompson Jr. of Tonawanda, Sarah Harrigan of Eugene, Ore., and Emily Thompson of Cordaline, Idaho; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held in Halsey Valley Cemetery, Town of Barton, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.

Allen-Manzer Funeral Home of Spencer is assisting the family.
